Artist's Project Description: This short play is a tribute to George Floyd. It imagines what might have occurred if the first African American heavyweight of the US, Jack Johnson, was stopped by the police on a night out on the town in 1910. The play stars Jason Hoy as Jack, Kevin Keaveney as Officer 1, and Garrett Hols as Officer 2.
Artist's Bio: Allison E. Francis PhD, is a Professor of English & Coordinator of English at Chaminade University of Honolulu. She is a playwright, director, actor & performance poet, featured internationally. She performs in local Hawaii theatres. Allison made her directorial debut & starred in Ntozake Shange’s For Colored Girls. She appeared as Nafissatou Diallo in we, the invisibles with Kailua Onstage Arts which won Best Ensemble Play 2020.
