Artist's Project Description:This project is a combination of old works with new works. It consists of multiple poems I have written over the years. I decided to include some of my old poetry because I wanted to highlight the struggles I have endured as a brown woman in America. However, the goal is to break generational curses within our communities!

Artist's Bio: Ilyanette Marie Bernabel, a self-proclaimed DominiRican (Dominican and Puerto Rican) born in Bronx, New York and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, is a poet, actor and Curatorial Assistant at Longue Vue House and Gardens based in the New Orleans metropolitan area.
Her acting credits include Young Tough in MOTHER COURAGE AND HER CHILDREN (Southern Rep Theatre), Johnna in AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY (Southern Rep Theatre), Little Becky Two Shoes in URINETOWN (The James Betty Hall Theatre), Belen in ANONYMOUS (PepsiCo Theatre), and various roles at the State University of New York, Purchase College. She holds a BA in Theatre and Performance Studies from SUNY, Purchase College and a MA in Museum Studies from Southern University at New Orleans.
