Lineage of Light

Artist's Project Description: This piece came together as a result of hearing mothers weep for so long, and the internal strength that I find through my family and my ancestors. Finding strength, especially as a woman of color, has been integral for me throughout the years.
Artist's Bio: Yasmin Ruvalcaba is a Portland based director, writer, and arts advocate. She centers her work around advancing equity, honoring mentorship and education, and promoting community outreach/engagement. Yasmin is currently working at Advance Gender Equity in the Arts (AGE) as the Program Manager. Two of Yasmin’s monologues are currently featured in Theatre Diaspora’s Here on This Bridge: The -ism Project. The most current project Yasmin is working on is a Dia de los Muertos performance.
