The Breath Project 846
Submitted by: Nikki Young
Artist's Project Description: This multi-media project focuses on the words George Floyd spoke in those last 8 minutes 46 seconds of his life. Those words were both personal and yet universal, as an echo of the last words and expressions of pain from Black men throughout the American experience. In those words are the cries of so many others - known and unknown - whose lives have been extinguished by this country's systemic racism. In this project, various Black men artists voice these words as we draw the connection between history and the present, and the fight for justice that continues.
