
Traveling For My Liberation

Artist's Project Description: Through free-writing and poetry, Cameron constructed a monologue that speaks of who he is, and his African-American ancestral trauma and travel. Cameron uses the tool of breathing (an act that is historically easier said than done for people of color: #ICan'tBreathe) and he exercises self-awareness in order continue his journey towards liberation.
Artist's Bio: Cameron "Cam" Blackwell: A Detroit Native and recent graduate from Wayne State University's Theatre and Dance program. Cameron is an actor, dancer, playwright, and lover of music.Through his time with Freedom Players, a social justice theatre company at Wayne State, he learned to embrace the value of his human voice and thought. He gives thanks to the ancestors that empower him along his journey.
